Why Psychotherapy?

At times, life can feel overwhelming, and many of us have experienced this.

We may find ourselves repeating the same patterns in relationships or work and wonder why it keeps happening. Or perhaps a crisis or significant event has brought underlying issues to the surface.

Taking this step can feel daunting, but many who have done so have found it profoundly helpful—gaining insight, acceptance, and the ability to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is typically a longer-term therapy. Short-term therapy is also available where we work together towards a dedicated goal.

About me

I am Shauna McVeigh, a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, where I trained at both WPF and BPF.

I have experience supporting individuals with a range of challenges, including neurodiversity, depression, anxiety, identity, self-confidence and self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss, parenting and pregnancy-related concerns.

I offer a warm, open, and compassionate therapy space where we can explore the issues at hand, as well as the underlying patterns that may be shaping how we navigate life.

I began my career as an Occupational Psychologist, working globally with individuals, teams and organisations. I then retrained as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist to offer more in-depth therapy support to help individuals understand and work with the root causes of emotional and relational issues.

I am accredited by the UKCP and the BPC and adhere to their code of ethics. Additionally, I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) as an Occupational Psychologist and am registered with the HCPC.

Getting started

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and take place at the same time each week. I offer both in-person and online therapy sessions.

I provide both long-term and short-term psychotherapy, depending on your needs.

  • Long-term psychotherapy is open-ended and typically lasts at least a year. We will decide together when it feels right to bring the work to a close.

  • Short-term psychotherapy is more focused, centered around a specific goal, and usually lasts between 12 and 18 sessions.

Before beginning therapy, we can have a free 15-30 minute introductory call to determine whether this is the right fit for you.

Fees: Range from £75-£100. This is based on location and time of the therapy.

I also accept patients covered by health insurers: Aviva, Vitality and WPA

Locations:

  • 37 Museum Street, Tottenham Court Road, London, WC1A 1LQ

  • Walton on Thames, KT12 1HS, Surrey
